In response to the dwindling availability of affordable housing in San Diego County. Friends of San Diego Architecture sponsored a competition calling for the design of accessory dwelling units or granny flats. Accessory dwelling units are considered to be an inexpensive housing alternative. AFH San Diego -Rebuild participated along with many others in the architectural community to provide design solutions amidst San Diego’s housing crisis.
Concept Statement
We see our concept as the key to unlocking the opposing views of accessory dwelling units seen within single family neighborhoods within San Diego, California.
We wish not to impose or disturb the local neighborhood vernacular but yet create a solution that will homogenize our ADUs with our residential neighborhoods. |
